Milk is for Baby Cows

Got Milk? That was the popular slogan used during the 1990’s to boost slowly declining sales of milk. It worked too because by 2016, an estimated 223 billion liters are consumed globally. Claims that milk is an essential dietary staple have been published by the dairy industry for years. The main argument is that it is an excellent source of protein and calcium.
In recent years, however, those claims are being refuted. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, it is “not clear that dairy products are really the best source of calcium for most people”.
If you drink a lot of it, it can “paradoxically weaken bones”. The reason for this is because milk is highly acidic, causing the body to leach calcium in order to counteract the damaging effects of inflammation.
However, the dairy industry is doing an excellent job of convincing the public otherwise.
Let’s take a look at some of the myths surrounding the health benefits of milk.
